TALES FROM THE BLOOD FAIRIES

PROPS & SET ELEMENTS | FILM WORK

Getting to work on a dark fairy tale was so right up my alley! The crew was also so creative, open and collaborative, it was a great experience.

One location was a forest that we needed to add a little magic to. I did this by making a bunch of silicone mushrooms that had LEDs inside them, adding some customized lanterns, a carnival sign post, covered jars and a sitting area.

The second location I ended up finding. It was so ornate and just filled with items. It was not in the budget to build it the way it needed to be. The location I found was amazing. It was everything the director wanted and more. It’s the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle located in Pennsylvania about an hour from New York.  At that location I only had to set up an alter and map, everything else was perfect and in place.

The props were also just a pleasure to make. The Beauty and the Beast book is my favorite. There was also a scroll with a custom wax seal, a magic wand with crystals, a cadet badge, lots of little jars, a statue of Oberon as well as his 8 foot tall staff and the ornate lock box for a special book.
