I have seen some beautiful Day of the Dead makeups, and I have seen so many that look so generic. When a Day of the Dead theme came up I needed to do something different. I wanted it to be pretty, yet creepy.  

I decided to make it a half and half. One side “normal” and the other side rotting – but not gory. With different eye colors, green on one side red on the other. I wanted it to be earthy and have the feel of torn paper.

So the skin is treated like ripped paper to show what’s underneath. Instead of veins I have vines creeping through the muscle and bones.
